Lord, 9 _$ J5 s4 z# N' p: M U
having transformed
+ P5 `8 d+ S# ksunshine and soil and water and seed,
6 V! |7 m/ R# J. M& ^into food upon which we are soon to feed,
- L6 H2 r* Y4 s5 _we thank you for life and we want to stay well,
' g" `' Y) `) U$ t) g. k! xso we promise to rub our hands with Purell.$ v( V" d( a3 N
We who came first and are ready to dine
2 H3 t* X8 L$ W4 ]thank you that we’re not still waiting in line,
. @2 p0 T% [$ {# g3 }but for those who are hungry and eagerly wait,
* ? \) g3 b; L1 ~- _3 T, bwe shall not be greedy and heap up our plate., ?# v8 G3 x5 W& k }3 ?0 Y) ?# j# l* D
Instead we’ll be thoughtful of all the others - r8 x+ b7 ~# j7 p4 x
the way we were taught by our own loving mothers.! ?& J; S, ~, a, x( p# ?6 S
Now,9 o) X4 e8 @1 M5 A. f- I# f+ v
We smell the potatoes all spicy and roasted
Q& a; J4 F3 w' }the aroma of casseroles perfectly toasted ^( b8 R8 p) R* r4 n( S" Z. y- u- @
We thank you for people so generous and kind
